My husband and I moved to Cathedral City, CA in 2021. Cathedral City, affectionately known as Cat City, is one of the seven cities in the Coachella Valley. You may have heard of Palm Springs (which is known as a resort town) or Coachella (from the music festival, which actually takes place in Indio, CA). Cathedral City is nested between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, which is more of a retirement community.
Previously, we lived in Los Angeles in a one-bedroom condo. We had both lived in LA for over two decades and decided we needed more space and an outdoor area. Unfortunately homes in the Los Angeles area are just way too expensive. We had visited Palm Springs several times in the past, so we decided to move out to the desert.
Living in a 3-bedroom home was quite the chance, mainly because it’s a lot of upkeep. Though our home was built in the late 1980s and had been recently remodeled by the previous owner, there’s still lots to do. I’m especially interested in making our large back yard into a more interesting space. And of course, there are always projects to do inside our home, whether that’s painting, decorating or remodeling.
This blog is a way for me to share my life here in the desert, including updates on projects I’m working on and general tips based on things I’ve learned. I hope you enjoy reading my Cat City Diaries and maybe even learn something along the way.
